A REMINDER
“Tie a string around your finger”–we’ve all heard that, and we all need reminders from time to time. This is why “Post it notes” are so popular. For me it has been putting on my watch with the face on the under side of my wrist or turning my ring upside down. Whatever works for you is fine. Now let me get to my point.
As you know Facebook can be a blessing or a curse. While the interaction with others is good, it sets us up for a fall. We find ourselves in situations where we feel the need to respond to certain things and Facebook gives us the opportunity to make our views and feelings known to others. The problem is that we sometimes post before we think, and we end up making a fool of ourselves. The Bible says, “A fool uttereth all his mind..”(Prov. 29:11), so we would do well to watch our words.
As I mulled this over in my mind, I thought it would be good if we had something to remind us to use caution before we post something. So, I came up with an acronym to serve as a reminder. As you know, regardless of what you type or paste it isn’t posted until you hit “ENTER”, so let’s use the “ENTER” button to remind us to think before we post. The reminder would be:
Enter
Nothing
That
Endangers
Relationships
PS: You might tie a string around your finger or use a “Post it note” to remind yourself to do this until it becomes a habit. Good idea or not, we need to know that words have great power to help or hurt. Use them wisely. Think about it!
