Having just spent a day with folks who truly love the Lord and His church it got me to thinking—What we do, or don’t do, reveals our values. For example–we sing “O how I love Jesus”, but then we refuse to obey Him, which shows that our words are meaningless( John 14:23-24). That proves that we do not value our Christ as we should.
Sadly, many speak about their love for the church, but their actions say otherwise. Those who truly love the church will affirm their affection for it by their actions. Make no mistake about it–their love for the church will be evidenced by their support of the church. We need never wonder how they feel about it–it shows.
Since this is a well known fact, you would think these pretenders would embarrass themselves, but that’s not always the case. Amazingly most seem quite comfortable in their charade, as though others cannot see through it. It would be far better for everyone concerned if they were concerned enough to just be honest and confess that their love is lacking. Until we admit our problem we can’t solve it.
So, how is it with you? Do you truly love the Lord and His church? Someone put it like this–“If you were arrested for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?” Think about it–do you really truly love the church?
