As we see in the headlines everyday, the world is filled with hate and danger. This fallen world is corrupt, cruel, and confused, and that spells conflict. We see it in homes, the streets, and among nations. Under such conditions there is no way to live in peace. Where love is lacking injustice, conflict, and suffering are sure to follow. And when life isn’t valued senseless deaths are sure to happen. We have created a society made up of sinfully selfish people with a sense of entitlement, determined to get whatever they want, and we are paying the price. We prove that we don’t value life by aborting thousands of babies everyday, and then act shocked when a gunman murders innocent people in city streets. What did you expect? We say,” ____ lives matter”! They do, but they matter regardless of the method of murder or the color of the skin. Until we value life we will keep dealing with the fruit of the problem without ever getting to the root. So what’s the answer? It’s evident that we’ve been looking in the wrong places.
If we took a vote most would agree that what we need is love, yet few seem to know the source from whence it comes–so we struggle and it keeps getting worse. Without a personal relationship with God we can never have a genuine love for others, and that creates conflict. When love is lacking feuds follow because we can’t deal with our differences—differences that are of all sorts and sizes. It might have to do with religion, politics, ideas, opinions, etc. and it might be on a small scale, such as between two parties, or a large scale such as war between nations. Whatever the sort or size the cause is a lack of love.
We see a lack of love when evil men hijack planes and use them as missiles against us, in domestic strife, feuding neighbors, bullying, and wherever strife is found. In every case love is lacking, and that is always associated with our relationship with God. When we get that right the other problems disappear, peace becomes possible. If that isn’t right nothing else can help. My prayer is that you will do whatever is necessary to make everything right between you and God. Society changes one person at a time. Let it start with you.
