Many years ago, before some of you were born, Dean Martin sang a song called “Memories Are Made Of This”. I loved that song and I’m using it’s title to frame my thoughts for today.
Yesterday was “Friend Day” at Lakeway and it was one of those days that will live on in our memories for a long long time! I was blessed before the day even began. Watching the people at work getting ready for the day was a blessing in itself. They worked hard, and with a smile on their face. I didn’t hear one word of complaint (at least not from those actually working). That’s the way it’s supposed to be!
The very first song seem to set the tone for the day. Our choir “Knocked our socks off” with their rendition of “I Just Came To Praise The Lord”.Wow! That was worth the trip! The number in attendance was good (at least 285) and the meal was fantastic! We even had door prizes for our guest–a lot of smiling people left with something to remember the day by. We saw many old friends and made some new ones.
I can’t put my finger on any one thing and say “That’s what made the day so great”, it was just something God did that made it so good. You could see it in the faces of the people and hear it in their voices. There was an unusal spirit of gladness that is unexplainable–a little taste of heaven on earth! While I want to thank the people who made it all possible, more than anything I want to thank God for adding His blessings to their efforts. That made it memorable. I can’t wait to get back to church to see what happens next! Hope to see you there. You never know what you might miss. Think about it!
