MORNING MANNA 1-26-26
DON’T QUIT
“But he himself (Elijah) went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life ….. then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose …. And, behold, the LORD passed by ….. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? And the LORD said unto him, Go ….”
1 Kings 19:4-5, 7-8, 10-11, 13, 15
There’s a lot going on here, but for a short devotion, let’s get right to it.
Elijah is a great and powerful prophet of God fighting the good fight, standing for the truth, and burdened for God’s people who have not completely turned from idols. There are wicked agendas coming against him and his life is threatened.
A preacher once said, “Even when we’re right and standing for the truth and the opposition is wrong, you still experience the pressure from those who are against you.”
That thought is so clearly confirmed here in God’s word. Elijah is ready to give up though he is standing for the Word as many weigh in against him.
However, God’s people who stand for the truth are strengthened by the Lord. Elijah was ministered to by an angel once and again, then the Lord gave him something else to do to stand for the truth.
Here’s the application for us : we can become discouraged even when standing for the truth. When we do, DON’T QUIT. Know that the Lord will come along, and one way or another, give you rest, restoration, and raise you up for a strong return to keep standing for the truth!
