“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”- Eph. 6:11-13
Salvation meets our greatest need and changes many things in our life. However, we still live in a fallen world and must do so until God takes us home. Until then we must struggle. I’m sure we all wish life was easier, but it is what it is – a struggle. There is a great never ending conflict going on. It is light vs darkness, good vs evil, God vs Satan, and there is no escape from it until we are in heaven.
That being the case it is crucial that we understand the nature of this warfare. The first thing we need to realize is that it is not against flesh and blood. We are in a spiritual warfare. We face a powerful unseen enemy who is determined to destroy us. So, if we are to prevail we must have spiritual help – the kind of help that God alone can provide. Thankfully, as Christians we have exactly what we need in Christ. By our faith in Him and our faithfulness to Him we can prevail over the enemy. We are “more than conquerors through him that loved us.” ( Rom. 8:37).
Because of Christ we need not be defeated. As Christians, God has equipped us with everything we need to succeed. We, however, must avail ourselves of what God has made available. Unless we appropriate what He supplies we will be defeated. So, in these troublesome times let us take advantage of all we have in Christ and prevail in the struggle. God has equipped us with everything we need to succeed. Because of Christ we can live each day in confidence and be at peace. – HDS
