HE CARES
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.“- 1 Pet. 5:7
Most of you have read this and heard this numerous times, but when your problems pile up sky high and your pain torments you, your family disappoints you and your friends forsake you, it might seem that no one cares. You might even feel that God has forgotten about you. You feel all alone as you struggle with a situation that seems impossible.
It’s then that you must remember that we walk by faith, not by sight. Appearances can be deceiving and without God in the picture we are sure to fail. To get God in the picture we must turn to the Word of God, the foundation of our faith. When we turn to God’s infallible word in search of hope we can do so with confidence because we know it is true. And based upon that fact we can build our faith and renew our hope, and destroy our fears.
God has given us many precious promises upon which we can rely, and we know that He cannot lie (Tit. 1:2). But there is no path to peace for those who don’t know the promises or those who refuse to believe them.
On the other hand, if we truly believe the Bible and that God cares for us and, contrary to how it seems, that He will provide for us, we will have a peace that passeth all understanding. God has given us all we need to survive our situation and profit from our problems. Therefore we ought to do as He commands – “casting all your care upon him.”
I can’t do it for you and God won’t force you to do it. It is your choice. You can continue to struggle under your heavy burdens or you can, by faith, cast them upon the Lord. Perhaps you’re saying, “Preacher, I don’t know how to do that”. If that’s the case I leave you with this advice from Phil. 4:6-7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”. “Looking unto Jesus” ( Heb.12:2) changes the way we look at everything else. – HDS
