MORNING MANNA 12-16-25
PRINCE OF PEACE
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called … The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
There once was a man who would often go for a swim in a lake near his home. There was no one around who knew he would do this. It was quiet, relaxing, and it was his source of peace, he said. One day as he was swimming, the warm air swooped down over the cool lake and almost instantly created a thick fog. It was so thick he lost his sense of direction. Panic set in. He swam 50 feet in one direction, turned around and swam 75 feet in another direction. He could not find land or even get to a place where he could touch the bottom of the lake. So he stopped and treaded water with his heart pounding, feeling hopeless, blind in the fog, when all of the sudden a voice called out to Him. This voice immediately calmed him, and he started swimming in the direction of the voice. Needless to say, the frequent swim in the lake was not a sure source of peace.
This prophetic word from God through Isaiah of the Messiah went out to Israel at a time when they needed unfailing peace. It was a time of darkness, affliction, and battle. They had engaged with the Amalekites, Midianites, Philistines, etc.. There was so much hatred, violence, and bloodshed which took its toll on Israel. In the midst of their foggy experience, God has the voice of the prophet to call out to them about a sure source of peace. The message from God through Isaiah was, “You go tell them my Son is the Prince of Peace.”
His completeness completes us. He is needed and He is everything we need. O how we, as well as Israel, needed the promise of a person like this.
Seven hundred years later from that time, over two thousand years ago for us, Peace came to earth, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
The good news to the Christian today is the experience of peace :
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7
The good news for the one reading this who would like to place faith in Jesus Christ to save them from their sins today is, the experience of peace :
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Romans 5:1
