MORNING MANNA 3-17-21
AN INHERITANCE
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,”- 1 Pet. 1:3-4
Perspective is of great importance. It is by keeping his eyes on the prize that the runner is able to press on through the pain. It is the assurance of pay day that keeps the worker on the job although he is tired and weary. It is in anticipation of the victory that the soldier musters up the courage to keep fighting. And no doubt, Abraham was greatly encouraged by the fact that “he looked for a city…whose builder and maker is God” (Heb.11:10). As he journeyed from one unknown place to another he always kept the thought of that city in his mind.
Even so, although we face many trials and tribulation, as a child of God we have a glorious inheritance awaiting us. We have assurance from God that we will receive relief from our suffering, rest from our labor, rewards for our service, reunion with the saints, and rejoicing with our Savior. It couldn’t get any better than that.
Regardless of how bad things are at the present we have the prospect of a better day that’s coming. We’re not home yet, but we are as sure of heaven as though we were already there – God can’t lie. My dear friend, thinking of heaven and all that it holds is not child’s play. It is serious business and essential to our welfare. Looking forward to what’s to come will help us get through the difficult days and tough times along the road of life. The hope of heaven not only brings happiness, it also provides help because we know the best is yet to come. – HDS
