“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” – John 3:7
Just about everyone is thinking about their needs. Few however are thinking about their greatest need. Do you even know what your greatest need is? Some might say health, wealth, happiness, employment, housing, etc. But there is a need much greater than any or all of these. While those things are important there is something even more so. Man is made up of body, soul, and spirit. Although our physical and emotional needs are important our spiritual need is of even greater importance.
The wise person gives the greater attention to the things of the greater importance. To determine what that is we must consider the nature of the things being considered. For example, our body comes from the dust of the earth and shall return to the dust of the earth. Your body is simply a tabernacle in which the real you, the spiritual person within, lives. When you vacate your body and it lies lifeless waiting to return to the dust, your spirit shall continue to exist for eternity. No one ever ceases to exist. That being the case we are forced to conclude that our spiritual need is of greater importance than the physical. And that is the same for everyone – “…Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3
