MORNING MANNA 5-22-22
“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.”— Ezk. 3:17-18
A few years ago I read the news of a driver who hit a church bus and killed thirteen people because he was texting. That’s awful. And naturally it is easy for us to criticize that man for his carelessness. He might have been a great guy in many ways, but he did something very foolish and 13 people lost their lives.
As easy as it is to condemn that man for his foolish decision, maybe we all ought to stop and think about ourselves. You might never text and drive but that doesn’t mean you don’t fail in other ways. If we are honest we have to admit that on many occasions we’ve been distracted in some way and failed to tell others about Christ. The Christians who died in that crash are in heaven, but those who die without Christ will spend eternity in hell. And if we failed to warn them their blood is on our hands!
The young man who caused that senseless wreck would no doubt do things differently if he could do it over, but he can’t. And I suspect we will regret our failures and wish we could undo things, but we won’t be able to. We get only one life to do the important work of winning souls. God forbid that we get distracted and waste it.- HDS
