HELPED BY HURT
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”– James 1:2-3
There was a quote in yesterday’s devotion that probably raised some questions. William McDonald said God “will not allow anything to hurt me”. I suspect that some dear soul is wondering “Why then am I hurting?” As they read these words their bodies are racked with pain and they wonder why God allows it. They wonder how that quote can be true. They don’t understand why some of the best people seem to have the worst problems.
God never intended that our life should be easy and pain free. Living and serving God is hard – it puts demands on us. God does indeed allow us to hurt but He always has our best interest at heart. And He has proven Himself faithful and true. You can trust God’s promise, He cannot lie. “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”– James 1:4. 2 Cor. 12:9 sums it up well “ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
