MORNING MANNA 6-26-21
IS ALL WELL?
“So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?” – 2 Kings
5:21
This question is of great importance because if all isn’t well something is wrong, and that’s bad.To answer this question it is useless to rely on our own reasoning or the observations of others. The world is in a state of confusion. Not knowing what is right and what is wrong they call good evil and evil good. So to figure it out and see where we stand we have to look to God’s Word – the only sure standard. I want to say right at the very beginning, your life is either right or wrong, there is no middle ground. So you need to know the truth about yourself and to figure that out you need to consider our text in the light of three questions. Is all well with your—
If the heart is right with God we will honor Him as our Father, follow the Son of God is our Lord, depend on the Spirit of God as our helper, look to the Word of God as our guide, submit to the will of God as our desire, seek the glory of God as our goal, take the grace of God as our song, praise God continually, find the peace of God to be our comfort, and trust the promises of God is our anchor.
— Head? By “head” I’m not talking about that semi-round thing that sits on your neck. I mean your thinking faculty, thoughts, intellect, your mind. This affects every area of your life. You can’t think wrong and live right. And it is obvious that most folks are off-track and confused. They are blind to the truth and misguided by their reasoning. That’s why the world is in a mess and doesn’t even know it.
But when all is well with the head God’s Word is trusted as the only sure guide; God’s promises are seen as reliable and precious; God’s love is seen as unending; God’s Son is seen as Faithful and True; God’s Spirit is seen as your Helper; God’s grace is seen as sufficient; and God’s glory is seen as your primary purpose. We will do as we’re commanded in 2 Cor. 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”So, how is it with you? Is all well?
— Habits? We can’t make a proper judgment of anyone by what they do on rare occasions, But what they do habitually is very telling. Beliefs affect behavior. Our outward behavior is determined by our inward nature. James Smith said, “The life is but the exposition of the heart… the exhibition of the ruling principles of the nature”. So how is your life? Make no mistake about it – what you are determines what you do. As the Lord said, the fig tree doesn’t bear olives and the grape vine doesn’t produce figs. Even so, if the heart isn’t sound the habits will be sinful. As Jesus said, “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (Matt. 7:16).When we love God as we are commanded our lives will manifest it. A good heart makes godly habits which makes us gracious helpers in the Kingdom of God. So with all this in mind, I’ll ask again – “Is all well?” – HDS
