MORNING MANNA 1-22-21
UNITED PRAYER
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”- Matt. 18:19
How many of you remember “Cottage Prayer Meetings”? Since we don’t hear much about them today, I’ll explain. During difficult times we used to schedule prayer meetings in the homes of our members. Prayer requests would be taken and prayers offered and we usually had refreshments and fellowship afterwards. They were a blessing.
Naturally due to the COVID pandemic that wouldn’t be wise today, but our need for prayer hasn’t diminished one bit. Truth is, prayers are needed now more than ever. Our nation, our church, our families, and all of us as individuals are in need of prayer. The troubles just keep piling up and we are in desperate need of God’s help. If we expect to see any improvement we must pray.
Since it isn’t practical to gather in homes or even in close quarters at church, I want to challenge – actually beg- you to pray individually, or as a family, or with those you feel safe with. There is something special about united prayer. When Jesus spoke of prayer it was generally in the context of united prayer. In His pattern prayer He said, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father….” (Matt. 6:9). Read the entire thing and take note of the words “our” and “us”. Clearly, not only are we to pray for one another, we are to pray with one another.
Our needs are great, our problems are increasing, our duties are pressing, and our flesh is weak. That makes prayer crucial. How about it? Will you make the commitment? Set a time for prayer, gather with those you are comfortable with and pray. If you are willing to accept this challenge please let me know. I’m praying for a good response and great results. – Bro.
