MORNING MANNA 7-12-24
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;” Philippians 1:9
Some seem to think than since we Bible believing Christians are in the minority that we must be in error – after all the majority must be right they reason. However, when you consider the depravity of man, it should be obvious that the opposite is true. History proves that God’s people have always been in the minority. A good example of this is found in the book of Judges, which is a record of horrible stories. It was a time when every man did that which was right in his own eyes Jud. 21:25. Yet as bad as it was, there were a few heroes, who stood true to God. They were as lights in a sin darkened world. Although few in number they had great affect.
Even so, if a church stands for the truth and against sin, it is probably not going to be the biggest and most popular church in town. We need to remember that we’re not trying to win a popularity contest. Bigger isn’t always better. The size of the crowd doesn’t determine the spirituality of the church.
But, however small and few, a scripturally sound church is of great importance. It is a guiding light to those trapped in the darkness of depravity. Although we want to reach as many as possible and grow as large as we can we must not compromise. God has always had a remnant of godly people , and it’s among that number we should desire to be in. Success isn’t measured by the size of the crowd, but by our commitment to Christ. May God help us to care more about his will than we do about the ways of the world. In these evil times when everyone goes by their chosen set of values and definition of right and wrong, we need to raise the standard of God’s word and say “this is the way walk ye in it” Isaiah 30:21.
We will never win the world by being like the world. We can only make a difference by being different. And when I say “different “ I mean living by scriptural standards rather than sin. There must be a balance between our beliefs and behavior or else we make the glorious gospel repulsive to those who are lost. We must practice what we proclaim or be used as an excuse by those who are unsaved. As someone said long ago, “We are the only Bible some people will ever read. God forbid that we leave the wrong impression “- HDS
