“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Cor. 5:17
I still remember my first plane ride. I was working for a Civil Engineering firm that owned a Beechcraft Bonanza. The president and vice president were both pilots and we used the plane to fly to job sites out of town. I can still recall the lift off, the sight of seeing things appear smaller and smaller, going through and over the clouds, around storms, and ascending to altitudes that I had never been before. Being in that plane enabled me to do things I had never done, nor could ever do, except by being in that plane. It was exciting!
A short time after that I had another experience that was of much greater note than that plane ride. I became a Christian and as such was “in Christ“. That speaks of a personal permanent union with Christ, my spiritual position and sphere of existence. Being “in Christ” changed me from within and continues to change me even to this very day. In Christ I have experienced peace that passeth all understanding, joy unspeakable and full of glory, love that passeth knowledge, hope that is both sure and stedfast, and life more abundant. None of this would have been possible were it not for my position of being “in Christ”. There I have found the satisfaction that I never had before.
So where are you? Are you in Christ or yet in your sins? If you’ve never received Christ as your Lord and Savior please consider what Paul said, “…we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” – 2 Cor. 5:20-21. – HDS
