MORNING MANNA          8-15-21

One of the things that troubles me greatly is the fact that so many Christians do not seem to enjoy their lives – at least not to the extent that they should. Although many admit to that being true, they always have some excuse for not doing so. Any one of numerous problems cause them to feel they are justified to moan and groan about the difficulties in their lives. But are they? That’s a question we need to answer and the answer is “No!”. While we may mourn we must not murmur, but most people do both. Although they know better they don’t do better. Why not?

For one thing it’s due to having their focus on the wrong things. One of the most important things you can do is to understand who you are and what you have as a result of the person and work of Christ. I wish every Christian would think about that every day of their life. It would transform them (2 Cor. 3:18).

Consider the results of rejoicing. It edifies you, encourages others, and exalts Christ. It is your strength, song, and sign that your trust is in the Lord. A joyful Christian is a beautiful sight and a powerful witness. And, thankfully it is in the reach of every Christian. If it is lacking we have only ourselves to blame. Those who are filled with the Spirit display the fruit of the Spirit.

So let me ask you a question to help you get started. Are you aware of who you are and what you have as a result of Christ? Rather than me making a list for you, I’ll just sum it up. You are a child of God and a joint heir with Christ. That’s it in a nutshell. Now it’s your turn. Take a pen and paper, make two columns and list as many things as you can think of or find in the Bible. If that doesn’t bring you joy, you need to get to the root of the problem and repent.
