“Thar ain’t nuttin like home cookin!”. Bet I’ve heard those words a thousand times as a boy growing up in the Ozarks. And if it’s my wife’s cooking it is true. I was reminded of this again just a few minutes ago as I consumed (devoured might be a better word) some of her cranberry-nut bread. It was awesome, but my favorite is still the date nut bread I ate yesterday—just no words to describe it. I won’t even mention the rum cake and assortment of cookies and candy.
I could go on and on talking about food–great subject, but I won’t. All this got me to thinking about how times have changed (can I get a yawn from you young folks?). It is my firm belief that one of the worst things that has ever happened to America is mothers going into the work force. Settle down before you jump to conclusions—I understand that many good godly mothers are forced to work outside the home to provide for their families. Those women deserve out support and prayers! They are some of the true heroes in our society. But, sadly many women have chosen a career over being a stay at home mother and our country is paying a horrible price. Nobody can take the place of a mother in the home. The best day-care in the world is far inferior to the presence of a godly mother in the home. Pray for our mothers as they struggle to do their duties. They have an awesome responsibility and deserve all the help they can get. THINK AOUT IT!
