REMEMBER WHAT JESUS SAID

April 16, 2017 By Pastor David Stone

“He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words,” –Luke 24:6-8

If ever those women needed a reminder of something like this it was at a time like that. They were at the Lord’s grave. The tomb was empty and their minds were full of questions. It was then that the angels reminded them of their need to remember what Jesus said.

Those faithful women are not the only ones in need of a reminder. We need it also. Forgetfulness fuels our fears and leaves us troubled when there is no need to be. Busy with the affairs of life and burdened by the trials of life we sometimes forget what Jesus said. Although He addressed the very need that confronts us, speaking the truth in love and out of wisdom we often fail to remember what He said.

That’s why it is crucial that we treasure up His words in our heart and consult the Scriptures daily. The brightness of His promises provide light that can’t be seen anywhere else. The nourishment of the Master’s manna gives strength that can’t be provided by anything else. The healing balm of His word can heal our hurts. His precious promises can bring us hope, even all seems lost.

Regardless of where you are or what you need, it will help you to remember what Jesus said. Give up whatever needs to go to make time for this. His words of truth are of far greater value than the treasures of this world. What Jesus said not only has power to direct and delight, but also to deliver. Never should we forget to “remember how he spake“.

Better to miss a meal. or a night’s sleep, or a days work than to go a day without God’s Word. We can do without a lot of things, but this isn’t one of them. You aren’t ready to face the future until you’ve looked back to what Jesus said. Never start the day’s journey without first having considered what Jesus said.–HDS
