The phrase “in time of need” doesn’t have to do with our selfish desires or worldly lust. It speaks of a genuine need. And while our needs can be greatly varied the context demands that we consider “our infirmities“. Clearly he is speaking of our needs during times of trials and temptation. We all need help then because we are weak and unable to cope with the things that threaten us.
Thankfully there is One who understands, cares, can and will help. In Christ we find not only a sympathetic friend, but one who has the strength to “help in time of need”. He is the great High Priest who opens our way “unto the throne of grace” from whence comes our supply. It is there that we “obtain mercy and find grace“. Were it not for that the strongest and wisest saints would faint, fall, and fail. But because our Master is the Mediator we are invited to “come boldly unto the throne of grace”.
If this moment is your “time of need” accept His invitation and receive His help. You can’t find it any place else. There is no other option. Christ isn’t one of many ways, He is the only One who can help. He is our only hope. As soon as you sense your need you should rush to the throne of grace, where the helpless find help. Neither the number or the nature of your needs matter. With Him all things are possible. Don’t wait until you are crushed beneath the weight of your woes, harmed by your hardships, defeated by your foes, or embittered toward life. Whatever your need is, we serve a God who is able to meet it and He invites you to “come boldly”.–HDS
