Turning Point magazine gives us some words of cheer based on this wonderful OT prophecy:
Every Christian has to trust the Lord for the unknown at some point: the outcome of an illness, the future of a relationship, the resolution of a crisis, the welfare of one’s children. Some are even called to trust God in an ultimate sense–when death is a possibility. Jesus himself came face-to-face with the grim specter of death in the Garden of Gethsemane. He no doubt remembered a messianic promise from the Psalms by which God’s Holy One would not remain dead forever. That is, resurrection was Jesus’ hope! And God was faithful to keep that promise for His Son.
You may never face the prospect of an untimely death, but Scripture gives you a similar promise: “Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54). And if God has promised to be faithful in that darkest of human hours, how much more can you trust him with daily needs. Because God was faithful and Jesus was resurrected, we know those who believe in Him will be as well (verses 23, 57).
Therefore, imitating Jesus’ response to God’s promise, “Be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (verse 58).
