The shopkeeper’s heart melted. He got down on his knee so that he was on her level, and said, “Do you want a widdle white wabbit or a thoft, fuffy bwack wabbit, or one like that widdle bwown wabbit over there?”
The little girl blushed, rocked on her heels, put her hands on her knees, leaned forward and replied, “I don’t weally fink my pyfon cares.”
Dear friend, we better be glad that children don’t grow physically to adult size in the first year or two–we would be in big trouble! Stop by the nursery sometime and watch the kids for a while. It just might be the eye-opening experience that you need. Those kiddos are selfish, tempermental, loud, angry, and very vocal about what they want. They will scream, yell, stomp their feet, push, pull hair, and do whatever they’re able to do, just to get their way. It reminds me of some churches! It is an amazing exhibition of a sinful nature manifesting itself. It actually reminds me of the behavior I see in people who are much older.
Do you want to know what’s wrong with the world? Watch the nursery–that will give you a clue. Some people grow older, but not wiser. We don’t learn how to love one another and live with one another until we are redeemed by Christ, reconcilied to God, indwelt by the Spirit, and educated in the Scriptures. Sadly, many aren’t there yet. Until a person matures spiritually they are a detriment to society.
