MORNING MANNA          3-31-24

March 31, 2024 By Pastor David Stone

MORNING MANNA            3- 31-24

THREE DAYS LATER
Did you ever feel that everything was working against you? Who hasn’t? But, regardless of how bad it was or is–Jesus had it worse! Much worse! He was rejected by his own, nailed to the cross, forsaken by the Father, murdered by His people, and buried in a borrowed tomb. Could you have stood outside that tomb it would have seemed the the devil had defeated the Son of God and destroyed all hope forever.

However, three days later it was a much different picture! Imagine walking up to that tomb and finding it empty. Picture yourself standing there in awe when suddenly two angels appear and announce,”He is not here, but risen”( Luke 24:6). Imagine running to tell others when suddenly you are met by Jesus Himself, and hearing Him say,”Be not afraid”(Matthew 28:8-10).

Now, after all these years those words still ring in our ears–“Be not afraid”. Whether you are facing darkness, demons, or death, you need not fear. These are enemies that Jesus has already faced and conquered. He can turn your tragedy into triumph. He did so personally and He can do so for His people. Although everything seems to be working against you, He is working for you. He does not promise to remove your problems and pain, but He does promise to use it for profit. Amazingly He produces good from bad. He did not fail when everything was working against Him and He won’t fail you.

He is the great Conqueror who has never lost a battle. He is the Mighty King who has no equal. His name is Wonderful. His ways are perfect. His power is unlimited. His wisdom is unequaled. His love is unconditional and unending. His promises are sure, and his words,”because I live, ye shall live also”(John 14:19) give us great comfort. He cannot lie! He has taken an oath upon His own name (Hebrews 6:13-19) and has proven Himself Faithful and True. We would be fools to not trust Him! – HDS

MORNING MANNA          3-30-24

March 30, 2024 By Pastor David Stone

MORNING MANNA          3-30-24
RESCUED AND REJOICING

“I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up – -“ –Psalms 30:1

The late Bill Bright told this touching story of a boy delivered from certain destruction by a brave man. Their home on fire, a young boy was trapped upstairs.  The grandmother attempted to rescue him, but she died in the horrible flames.

A man who saw the fire climbed up an iron drainpipe to the lad’s window.  With the boy clinging to his neck and with a firm grip on the drainpipe, he lowered himself and the boy to safety.

Weeks later, a public hearing was held to determine who should be given custody of the boy.  A teacher, a farmer, and the town’s wealthiest citizen all gave reasons why they should be chosen to give the boy a home.  But the sad boy only stared at the floor.

Then a man walked to the front of the room and announced his desire to adopt the boy.  He slipped his hands out of his pockets and held them up for the crowd to see.  His palms bore hideous scars.

The boy cried out in recognition and leapt into the man’s arms.  This was the man who had saved the child’s life.  His hands had been scorched when he climbed up the hot iron pipe.  As the boy nestled in the arms of the man who saved his life, the other men walked away.  Those scarred hands settled the issue.

In the same way, our Savior’s nail-scarred hands have settled the issue for us.  Our Lord’s sacrifice saved us and made us children of God.  Like the young boy, we have been “adopted” as God’s sons (Ephesians 1:5).

As believers, we are not orphans who are homeless without parents or family.  We have an incredible parent, our loving Heavenly Father, who cares for us deeply and cares for us each moment of the day.  We also have a wonderful family, consisting of brothers and sisters all over the world.  And we have a marvelous home waiting for us in eternity.

Even now, we experience comfort, peace, and a sense of belonging through our Father’s Spirit — the Holy Spirit — who has made our heart His home.  We are very important to God because we are His dearly beloved children.

For all these wonderful blessings, let us thank God for our Savior’s precious, nail-scarred hands. HDS

BEDRIDDEN SAINTS
“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Heb. 12:11

Charles Spurgeon said, I bear my witness that some of the best things I have ever learned from mortal lips–I have learned from bedridden saints!

There is no greater mercy that I know of on earth than good health–unless it is sickness. Sickness has often been a greater mercy to me than health!

It is often worth while being afflicted, in order to experience the great loving kindness of God which He bestows so abundantly on us in the hour of trouble and perplexity. Yes, God turns our fasts into feasts–and we are glad in the midst of our sorrow!

A whole-hearted consecration,
a child-like confidence,
a deep-toned submission–
these will make us ready for suffering, whatever it may be.

“Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:” 1 Peter 1:6

The fact that most of us tend to complain or get discouraged when troubles come it would do us good to read this again. Although we can’t always understand God’s purpose in our suffering we can rest assured that it is for a good reason. We can also be certain that God’s grace is sufficient to strengthen us and get us through it. – HDS

MORNING MANNA.         3-27-24

MORNING MANNA          3-27-24
One Cause of Collapse
“And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you.
..”–2 Cor. 12:15

That is a remarkable statement by a remarkable man. Paul was fully committed to the work of the Lord and willing to endure any hardship for Christ’s sake. He even rejoiced in such suffering- something seldom seen today. Of such an attitude Elisabeth Elliot, a woman who knew something about suffering, wrote:

One excuse that is a catch-all for any failure to do our jobs is “burn-out.” It’s an occupational hazard in just about every occupation modern man has ever heard of. Strangely enough, we never heard about burn-out until the past couple of decades, but now everybody suffers from it. Exhaustion–physical, mental, emotional–is endemic. Why?

One reason is lack of humility. In our anxiety to compete, to prove ourselves, to be a success as the world defines it, we are wearied and overburdened. If we sought instead only the greatness of the kingdom, we would become childlike. The truly important things are hidden from the clever and intelligent and are shown to those who are willing to come and be shown, to put on the yoke Christ bears, which is the will of the Father.

We need to learn to walk side by side with Him, bearing humbly and gently the yoke He places on us, not the unbearable burdens of competition and recognition and something called fulfillment. If we do this, any burden He allows–of loss or pain or insult or responsibility or heartbreak–will be both bearable and light, for the weight is shared with Him. No yoke laid on us in this way will cause us to burn out or collapse. This yoke itself will in fact be the very means of our finding rest. There is no form of recreation or relaxation or therapy to compare with the rest, the gentle ease, of Christ’s yoke. “Come,” He says to us, “and learn of Me.”
We say we believe that God makes no mistakes and that He does all things well. Why then do we complain when He does or allows something that we don’t like? Was it He or we who made a mistake? I think you know the answer. -HDS

MORNING MANNA            3-26-24

ENDURE HARDNESS

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:2–4

The Christian life is not referred to as warfare in the Scriptures symbolically. We are engaged day after day in a real life-and-death struggle with an enemy who is intent on our destruction. Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). The devil will do everything that he can to attack us at any weak point he can find. It is absolutely certain that difficulty, trials, and hardship will be with us until we reach Heaven. That does not mean, however, that we must be defeated by them. God calls us to be overcomers, and that requires that we properly respond when things go wrong.

An unknown poet wrote:

All the water in the world
However hard it tried,
Could never, never sink a ship
Unless it got inside.

All the hardships of this world,
Might wear you pretty thin,
But they won’t hurt you, one least bit
Unless you let them in.

There has never been a case in all of history in which anyone improved a situation by complaining and griping about it. Sitting around moping and asking “Why me?” inevitably leads to discouragement. Instead, God calls us to treat difficulties like a reality that must be dealt with rather than as an indication that we should quit. The good soldier does not quit fighting just because it rains or snows or because there are a lot of enemies. Our love for God and our commitment to serve Him should endure any difficulty that comes our way.

Reminding ourselves that we are in a battle makes it easier to properly respond when hardships come.- copied
