MORNING MANNA         2-10-22

MORNING MANNA             2-10-22

TREMENDOUS TRUTHS

“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,”  Ephesians 1:19-22

As I read these scriptures and the following comments by J. C. Philpot I was blessed. Yet I know some will read the same words as they would read a news article and then move on without their head, heart, or hands being moved. I hope that isn’t you. Please ponder every word and you will be blessed.

“And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,”

How vast, how numerous, how complicated are the various events and circumstances which attend the Christian here below, as he travels onward to his heavenly home!

But if all things are put under Jesus’ feet, there cannot be a single circumstance over which He has not supreme control. Everything in providence and everything in grace are alike subject to His disposal. There is not . . .
  a trial,
  a temptation,
an affliction of body or soul,
  a loss,
  a cross,
  a painful bereavement,
  a vexation,
  a grief,
  a disappointment,
  a case, state or condition,
which is not put under Jesus’ feet.

He has sovereign, supreme disposal over all events and circumstances;
  as possessed of infinite knowledge He sees them;
as possessed of infinite wisdom He can manage them; and
as possessed of infinite power He can dispose and direct them for our good and His own glory.

How much trouble and anxiety would we save ourselves, could we firmly believe, realize, and act on this!

If we could see by the eye of faith that . . .
  every foe and every fear,
  every difficulty and perplexity,
  every trying or painful circumstance,
every looked for or unlooked for event,
every source of care, whether at present or in prospect,
are all at His sovereign disposal–what a load of anxiety and care would be often taken off our shoulders!”

“My times are in Your hands!” Psalm 31:15 Think about that!

LEARNING TO LOVE GOD

“We love him because he first loved us”-1 John 4:19

We who know the Lord love the Lord. There is no question about that. As Charles Spurgeon said, “There is no exception to this rule; if a man loves not God, neither is he born of God. Show me a fire without heat, then show me regeneration that does not produce love to God.” He was right, but some folks don’t seem to get it.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say, “I love the Lord”, and that is great–we ought to proclaim our love for Him. But in some instances their testimony just doesn’t ring true. When some people say “I love the Lord”, they mean,” I don’t care about the church and I’m not involved in Christian service, I just love the Lord.” Oh really? Are you sure?

When a person truly loves Christ it will affect his attitude and actions. Here’s the proof—“If a man love me, he will keep my words: —- He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings–“(John 14:23-24). So, what about it—do you really love the Lord? Is there evidence that you love God? If not then you have reason for great concern. We will be judged by the truth, not our testimony. Think about it! – HDS

Some “feel” that they love God, but the facts say otherwise

NEVER FAILING HELP

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”- Hebrews 13:5–6

When David Livingstone gave his life to the mission field of Africa, he did so without reservation. He literally gave his life to take the gospel where it had never been heard. Late in his life he made a rare trip back to Great Britain where the Glasgow University would award him an honorary degree. The Livingstone who stood to address the crowd that day bore little resemblance to the man who had left England years before. He was painfully thin from the impact of malaria and other tropical diseases. His left arm, which had been mauled by a lion, hung limply at his side.

He told the crowd with joy that he was preparing to return to Africa again. In his speech Livingstone said, “Would you like me to tell you what supported me through all the years of exile among a people whose language I could not understand, and whose attitude toward me was always uncertain and often hostile? It was this: ‘Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.’ On these words I staked everything, and they never failed.”

Whether it is just a “normal” day or a great challenge, we are always in need of God’s help. The wonderful reality is that He is always faithful to provide what we need. Many of us have experienced the pain of a friend who let us down or someone who failed to be there when we needed them most. God never does that. He is our constant and unfailing source of strength and support. No challenge that you ever face will be beyond the ability of God to resolve—and He will never abandon you. – copied

OVERCOMING EVIL

“Do not be overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”– Romans 12:20-21

Good examples are of great value. Sometimes we are faced with difficulties that seem too great for us to defeat, or burdens that appear too heavy to bear, and then we see another succeed and we find courage to face the challenge. And when it comes to facing evil we need all the good examples we can find. Here’s one that just might be helpful to you:

It’s the story of a Christian lady who owned two prized chickens. One day, they got out of their cage and wandered into the garden of an ill-tempered neighbor. When the neighbor realized the hens were loose in his yard, he caught them, wrung their necks, and threw them back over the fence hoping that would teach his neighbor a lesson.

Obviously, the woman was upset when she discovered her neighbor had killed her chickens, but she didn’t retaliate by rushing to his house to yell at him. Instead, she took the two deceased birds, dressed them, and made some chicken pot pies. She then carried one of the pies over to the man who had committed the crime.

Her children, expecting an angry scene among the two, hid behind a bush in the man’s yard to see his reaction. But when the Christian lady apologized for not being more careful about keeping her chickens penned up, they saw he was left speechless! That chicken pie he held in his hands, along with the apology, filled him with embarrassment and shame.

You see, the woman wasn’t trying to get even. She wasn’t returning evil for evil. All she wanted to do was show her neighbor the meaning of true Christian love. And her actions could have been the catalyst to bring him to faith in Christ. What a challenge this is for you and me today!

Remember, when you’re good to others you are best to yourself! – HDS

SERVING WITH GLADNESS

“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.”- Psalm 100:2

Are you involved in service at your church? When we visit those who are in need of encouragement, it should be with joy. When we watch children in the nursery or minister to preschoolers, it should be with joy. When we sing in the choir, we should have a joyful expression on our face. When we wash the dishes at home or vacuum the living room, we should do it with joy, for even the simplest acts of life are done as unto the Lord.

Joy is to our daily Christian duties what blossoms are to a rose bush or what a flag is to a flagpole. We aren’t to serve the Lord with weariness, drudgery, worry, or anger—we’re to serve Him with joy.

This same truth—which is worded positively in Psalm 100—is stated in the negative in Deuteronomy 28:47-48: “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you.”

How terrible to serve the Lord with any other attitude than a continual source and supply of joy! Commit to serving with joy today.

Joy improves our personalities, increases our energy, transforms our worship, and bears us through difficulties. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory.-Copied
