REDEEMING THE TIME

January 15, 2015 By Pastor David Stone

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil“–Eph. 5:16
Having just entered the new year I’m sure many pastors have recently preached from this verse– for good reason. The older I get the more meaningful this verse becomes to me. We all have less time left than at any other point in our life. How will we spend it? That is the question.

We all can think of pleasant ways to spend our days, and it would be different for each one. Given the opportunity, what would it be for you? How about sitting on the porch swing, in perfect weather, holding hands with your dearest loved one? Or maybe you are the adventurous type and seeing the wonders of the world is on your bucket list. Or how about sitting in your recliner watching your grandchildren play? And, I suppose, for some fishing might be the way they would want to spend the rest of their life. But what about you? You need to think about that, because the clock is ticking! What will consume your time, exhaust your energy, and capture your attention?

Moses prayed, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”(Ps. 90″12). While life demands various kinds of activity, there should be one single purpose for which we live. I believe Paul got it right when he said, “For to me to live is Christ..”(Phil.1:21). That describes the God-given purpose for every Christian. Although we must of necessity devote some time to work, play, rest, and eating, etc. the one thing, above everything, more than anything that we should focus on is serving God. We should spend our time doing the will of God, from the heart, for the glory of God, with eternity in view.

We talk and sing about “Wasted Years”, but we need to remember that there is more than one way to waste our lives. We usually think of those like the Prodigal son who waste their lives in sinful activities, but some of us are just as guilty by spending our lives on things that are of no eternal value. If we were honest we would have to admit that we spend far less time in Bible study, prayer, witnessing, worship, etc. than we should. We tend to give the least amount of attention to the things that matter most— don’t we?

Proactive State Dealing with Illegal Aliens

Posted on July 27, 2013 by Bob Griffin
[Taken from: “The Ozarks Sentinel” Editorial Page; interesting thoughts on a
controversial subject]

Is Missouri the “smartest state in the union” since it has no illegal’s? And
folks around America are asking, “Shouldn’t MY state do the same?”

Missouri’s approach to the problem of illegal immigration appears to be more
advanced, sophisticated, strict and effective than anything to date in
Arizona . Does the White House appreciate what Missouri has done? So, why
doesn’t Missouri receive attention? Answer: There are no illegal’s in
Missouri to demonstrate.

The “Show Me” state has again shown us how it should be done. There needs to
be more publicity and exposure regarding what Missouri has done. Please pass
this around.

In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment
designating English as the official language of Missouri . In November,
2008, nearly 90% voted in favor! Thus, English became the official language
for ALL governmental activity in Missouri. No individual has the right to
demand government services in a language OTHER than English.

In 2008, a measure was passed that required the Missouri Highway Patrol and
other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any
person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be
in Missouri illegally. Missouri law enforcement officers receive specific
training with respect to enforcement of federal immigration laws.

In Missouri , illegal immigrants DO NOT have access to taxpayer benefits
such as food stamps or health care through Missouri Health NET. In 2009, a
measure was passed that ensures Missouri’s public institutions of higher
education DO NOT award financial aid to individuals who are illegally in the
United States.

In Missouri, all post-secondary institutions of higher education to annually
certify to the Missouri Dept. Of Higher Education that they have NOT
knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in
the United States.

So, while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is important to
remember, Missouri has been far more proactive in addressing this horrific
problem. Missouri has made it clear that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome
in the state. They are criminals and they will certainly NOT receive public
benefits at the expense of Missouri taxpayers.

[I forwarded this to my Wyoming rep and senator for our state to “get on
board” with treating criminals as criminals, not pampered guests.]

MOVING MOUNTAINS

January 14, 2015 By Pastor David Stone

I received an email this morning from a dear preacher friend that touched my heart and reminded me of the following poem, by an unknown writer, that has blessed me over these many years. I am not at liberty to share my friends story, but I do want to share this poem. Hopefully it will bless you as well:

“Lord, I’ve never moved a mountain and I guess I never will. All the faith that I could muster wouldn’t move a small ant hill. Yet I’ll tell you, Lord, I’m grateful for the joy of knowing Thee, and for all the mountain moving down through life You’ve done for me.

When I needed some help you lifted me from the depths of great despair. And when burdens, pain and sorrow have been more than I can bear, you have always been my courage to restore life’s troubled sea, and to move these little mountains that have looked so big to me.

Many times when I’ve had problems and when bills I’ve had to pay, and the worries and the heartaches just kept mounting every day, Lord, I don’t know how you did it. Can’t explain the wheres or whys. All I know, I’ve seen these mountains turn to blessings in disguise.

No, I’ve never moved a mountain, for my faith is far too small. Yet, I thank you, Lord of Heaven, you have always heard my call. And as long as there are mountains in my life, I’ll have no fear, for the mountain-moving Jesus is my strength and always near.”

BLACK AMERICAN’S TRUE NEMESIS

July 27, 2013 By Pastor David Stone

Black America’s True Nemesis: Liberals, Not Zimmerman

In the midst of all the racial hullabaloo stirred up by so-called advocates for black empowerment after the Zimmerman trail, guess who is really being harmed?  Answer: black America.

All of you black pastors, black politicians, and black celebs who have joined Sharpton and the MSM’s lynch mob to “get Zimmerman” should be ashamed of yourselves.  You are doing a huge disservice to the very people you claim to champion by chasing a straw man while ignoring the real issues that are devastating black America.

Everyone knows that the black community is a mess.  White folks ain’t killin’ us.  We are killing each other.  Over 70 and increasing percent of black kids grow up in fatherless homes.  Researchers warn that we blacks are aborting ourselves into extinction.  Black school dropout rates are at epidemic levels.  Fatherless households and school dropouts fuel through the roof high black unemployment, gangs, and incarcerations.

And yet, all of you so-called defenders of black America are hell-bent on destroying the life of one Hispanic for defending himself.  Displaying remarkable evil intent, the MSM launched a false narrative filled with lies about the incident, not giving a darn about the consequences, like loss of property and lives.

To strengthen their “America is racist” storyline the MSM creatively called Zimmerman a “white Hispanic.”  The MSM edited Zimmerman’s 911 call to make him sound racist.  To gin up black rage, the MSM promoted a photo of Martin as an innocent 12-year-old rather than the 17-year-old 6’2″-160-lb. thug he was at the time of the incident.  Yes, Martin’s history documents that he was a thug.

By the way, black activists saying that the jury declaring Zimmerman not guilty means that it is open season on young black men is pure evil race-baiting crap.  Statistically, blacks are 50 times more likely to assault whites than vice-versa.

You black avengers should be totally outraged that CNN’s white liberal host Piers Morgan presented Rachel Jeantel’s ignorant ghetto language as representative of how we speak in the black community.  Morgan called Jeantel “one smart cookie,” and you knuckleheads probably consider Morgan and his condescending fellow white liberals our friends.

Please forgive my use of “knuckleheads.”  I just find it extremely frustrating that liberals continue to urinate on blacks and tell us it is the Republicans’ fault…and we fall for it.  Liberal pandering has destroyed the black family and continues to wreak havoc in the black community — and my fellow blacks cannot see it.  They continue to kiss white liberals’ derrieres.  Yes, I am frustrated.

In the eyes of a relative of mine, her son could do no wrong.  She created a spoiled brat who grew up to be a jerk — no self-discipline or respect for authority.  His personal relationships were disasters.  He could not keep a job.  He died young.  While I believe that everyone is ultimately responsible for his own behavior, this boy’s mom’s lack of parenting contributed to his demise.

Folks, this is exactly what liberal black leaders and liberal whites having been doing to blacks: refusing to hold us accountable for destructive behavior and making excuses for us.

Real compassion is honestly dealing with the issues plaguing the black community rather than so-called advocates (Democrats and the MSM) using our dysfunction for their political and financial gain.

All of you black celebs and black politicians demanding Zimmerman’s head on a platter make mega-millions of dollars a year.  With blacks being only 12% of the population, you would not be who you are without white support.  Thus, your accusation that America is hostile towards black males is absurd, racist, and worst of all, discouraging to young blacks.

America is the greatest land of opportunity on the planet for all who choose to go for it.  Period!  End of subject!

Black advocates indulging blacks in irresponsible self-destructive behavior serve only to undermine black progress, creating spoiled, entitlement-minded, undisciplined, hopeless, and angry black youths.  Do you guys not see the disservice you are doing to your own people?  It is the same as bad parenting.

But here is what is truly sad and frustrating: every word in this article is true, and yet, liberals, black and white, will read it and seek to silence, punish, and destroy me.  They’ll call me a traitorous sellout, an Uncle Tom, and a self-loathing stupid N-word.

Meanwhile, liberals’ exploitation will further the decline and suffering of black America.  Race-hustling ambulance-chasers like Sharpton will continue seeking opportunities to extort a buck and increase their political power.  Liberals will continue treating us blacks like inferior idiots, demanding lowered standards and expectations.  Lord, help us.

Black males will continue killing each other over the slightest dis.  That 70% rate of black out-of-wed births and fatherless homes will continue rising, along with school dropouts, abortions, unemployment, and incarcerations.  And blacks will continue rewarding liberal Democrats with almost 100% of their vote.

In keeping with liberals’ lowering the bar for blacks, Rachel Jeantel will probably get her own reality TV show.  Millions of black youths will be able to learn “new school,” as Rachel described it, black language — “creepy ass cracka” and “nigga.”  I wonder what her TV show will be titled.  “Rachel Jeantel: She Be All Dat”?

Go ahead and accuse me of not being down with authentic blackness or of being a traitor to my race if you want to, but I will not be tuning into Rachel’s show.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who inspired black excellence, must be turning over in his grave.

BEAUTIFUL SIMPLICTY AND RADIANT LOVE

January 13, 2015 By Pastor David Stone

Every Spirit-filled Christian knows he is not perfect, but he wants to be. He also yearns for other believers to be always at their best. He longs to see Christianity in its purest form and most effective state. That’s what A. W. Tozer was hoping for more than half a century ago when he wrote these words:

“I am afraid of a new wave of religion that has come. It started in the United States, and it is spreading. It is a sort of esoteric affair of the soul or the mind, and there are strange phenomena that attend it. I am afraid of anything that does not require purity of heart on the part of individuals and righteousness of conduct in life. I also long in the tender mercies of Christ that among us there may be the following: 1. A beautiful simplicity. I am wary of the artificialness and complexities of religion. I would like to see simplicity. Our Lord Jesus was one of the simplest men who ever lived. You could not involve Him in anything formal. He said what He had to say as beautifully and as naturally as a bird sings on the bough in the morning. That is what I would like to see restored to the churches. The opposite of that is artificiality and complexity. 2. A radiant Christian love. I want to see a restoration of a radiant Christian love so it will be impossible to find anyone who will speak unkindly or uncharitably about another or to another. This is carefully thought out and carefully prayed through. The devil would have a spasm. He would be so chagrined that he would sulk in his self-made hell for years. There should be a group of Christians with radiant love in this last worn-out dying period of the Christian dispensation, a people so loving that you could not get them to speak unkindly and you could not get them to speak uncharitably.”

While we cannot change or control the condition of Christianity as a whole, we can do something about ourselves. When others are at their worse it is all the more reason why we should be at our best. Your neighbor might not know anything about the over-all condition of Christianity, but they know something about the way you represent it and they make judgements about it based on what they see in you. I pray you will show them the best side. Who knows, that just might encourage them to join with you.–Bro. Stone
