MORNING MANNA 7-8-24

MORNING MANNA           7-8-24
PERFECT PEACE PROMISED
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because
he trusteth in thee.”–Isaiah 26:3

We all long for trouble free lives, but the dream never comes true. Life
sometimes feels more like a nightmare. Trusting God doesn’t exempt us from
pain and problems, but it does equip us to deal with them. We live in frail
bodies of flesh and bone so we are going to suffer. We live in a fallen
world, so we will meet with opposition and injustice. We face a strong and
cunning adversary, so we will have adversities. That’s life on planet earth.

So– trust in God won’t exempt us from troubles and trials
  — believing God won’t remove all the burdens
  — confidence in God won’t prevent conflicts
  — hope in God won’t keep us from getting hurt
  — relying upon God won’t prevent ridicule

But– trust in God will lead to triumph
    — believing God will bring blessings
    — confidence in God will give courage and comfort
    — hope in God will provide help
    — reliance upon God will give us rest

If our “mind is stayed on” Him! That is the condition and those are the
consequences — regardless of circumstances. The choice is yours.-HDS, (9-8-24)

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭

THE BRIDE OF CHRIST
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭2‬ ‭

The Bible pictures the church as the Bride of Christ. That should get our attention. Knowing that God has designated it as such should make a big difference in the way we view it. I don’t know any real man who would intentionally abuse his wife, or any woman, nor would he sit back and allow others to do so. And I don’t believe for a second that Christ ignores our mistreatment of His Bride– the church. You hurt my wife and you hurt me–and It makes me want to hurt you. You hurt the Lord’s church and He will hurt you. Paul made it clear to the Corinthians that some had died prematurely because of their attitude toward the church. Yeah–whether you believe it or not He is that kind of God! He protects His people because they are His.

The church is the only institution on earth established by Christ and the only one authorized by Him to carry out His commission. She has been bought by the blood of Christ and belongs to Him. She is indwelt by His Spirit, loved by the Father, and precious in His sight. Mistreat her and you have mistreated Him, offended the Father, grieved the Holy Spirit, and endangered yourself. Yet, sadly many people ignore her, neglect her, criticize her, and abuse her. Do you really think that this escapes His attention or that they will escape His wrath ?

Here’s something you might need to consider. Perhaps the most common way in which people disrespect the Bride of Christ is to treat her as though she isn’t needed– not important enough to get their attention, respect or support. That wouldn’t be you would it? Remember this–You cannot be in fellowship with Christ if you have no desire to fellowship with His church. Think about it! – HDS

A GOOD EXAMPLE

“…..be thou an example of the believers.”1 Timothy 4:12

Around the turn of the century in rural Tennessee an old man crippled with arthritis was very faithful in his assembling with the saints. Twice on Sunday and on Wednesday nights a little girl watched from her window as the old man with his cane painfully made his way down to the little church on the corner. One Sunday morning following a snow storm, the little girl ran to her window and looking out exclaimed, “Surely the old man will not go to church this morning.” But there he was, right on schedule, plodding very cautiously through the snow.

The little girl could not contain herself any longer. She just had to visit the little church to see what possibly could be there that would bring the old man out on such an inclement morning. The rest is history. The little girl was impressed by the services there that morning and a short time later became a Christian. After high school she enrolled in a Christian college and while there she met a fine young Christian boy whom she later married. To this union a son was born who was to become one of the finest gospel preachers. This brother during his ministry has literally led thousands to Christ.

The old man went to his reward never realizing just what an impact he had made for the cause of Christ. Because of his godly influence many will go into heaven with him. There can be no greater joy than to reach heaven and to her someone say, “I am here because you have shown me the way.”(copied)

Some of you have children and grandchildren—you better stop and think about where your example is leading them. We only get one chance to get it right and we are accountable for our actions. Hopefully we will lead them to Christ.-HDS, 11-21-13

THROUGH GOD’S EYES

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints”- Psalm 116:15

I have often said, God wants for you exactly what you would want for yourself if you were as smart as God. I believe that. Our attitude about everything would change if we saw things through God’s eyes. Here’s a good example, taken from a daily devotional called “A Good Thing”, of what I’m talking about:

“From our perspective it is the greatest grief we can imagine; from God’s perspective it is the delight of His heart. From our perspective, it brings a sorrow that only heaven can erase; from God’s perspective, it brings a joy that only heaven can know.

How can the death of His people be so precious in the sight of the Lord? Doesn’t He care about the gaping wound that loved ones leave behind on earth? Is He not sensitive to the pains and anguish that usually precede our own death? Why would anything so grievous to us be so precious to God?

The answer, of course, is that God loves more, sees more, and wants more for us than we love, see, or want for ourselves or loved ones. God sees the majesty, sweetness, purity, and perfection of each glorified saint as they cross over from this cursed earth and put on the robes of Christ’s righteousness.

If we could see just how delightful heaven is, just how joyful we will be there, and just how overwhelmingly sweet it will be to live in the presence of Jesus Christ forever, we would doubtless find death as precious as God does.”

Remembering that God’s will is always best will help us bear up under the most severe trials and to rejoice because of the greatness of His power, wisdom, and love.- HDS

WHY DID GOD BLESS AMERICA?
“And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;”-– Acts 17:26

We sing “God bless America”, and for good reason– we need His blessings. Without His blessings we would struggle, suffer, and eventually perish. It’s easy to think of reasons why we sing and pray ‘God bless America”. But have you ever thought about why God has blessed America? It’s an undeniable fact God has blessed America, but “Why?”.

It was not without reason that God raised up our nation, preserved her and blessed all these years. Looking at the precepts, principles, and promises of God’s Word I believe we can see why He blessed us. God blessed America because we have—

— Shown the greatness of His power and brought Him glory.
As we look at American history and think about all those who helped make America great we give them credit for doing so, but the greater praise belongs to God. It was He who made America great!

— Stood for Christian values.
Because of its Biblical foundation and trust in God the Lord has been pleased to bless us. Our testimony has shown the world that God’s will is right, best, and safest.

— Shared with those in need.
No other nation has shown such love, compassion, and generosity as America. Not only have we taken care of our own, we have responded to the needs of others around the world. That’s no small matter in God’s sight.

— Supported Israel.
More than any other Israel has found a friend in America. And we have been blessed as a result– just like God promised (Gen. 12:3; Jer. 30:6).

— Spread the gospel.
No nation on earth has been so instrumental in spreading the gospel of Christ throughout the earth as has America. Our churches have sent more missionaries into the world than any other, and that     was the intent of our forefathers.

Now if we truly desire and expect God to bless America in the future we must get back to what caused Him to bless us in the first place. Think about it! — HDS
