MORNING MANNA           6-23-22

MORNING MANNA             6-23-22

ON THE WAY HOME

“For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”- Heb. 11:10

“For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”– Heb. 13;14

The Bible frequently pictures the Christian as a pilgrim, traveling through a strange land and over tough terrain, enroute to his heavenly home.

During the course of his journey he experiences many different things. His path will often be rough and steep. He will face rapid streams and raging storms—difficulties that require great care, courage, and strength. He will need patience to be sure, for the journey will push him to his limits.

So, where do we find the strength to—

–climb the next high hill

–ford the next raging river

–cross the next barren desert

–traverse the next slippery slope

–endure the chill of another winter night

–bear up under the scorching heat of the summer sun.

There seems to be so much against us! After a while we even forget about the pleasures we’ve enjoyed along the way—

–the lush green pastures

–the still cool water

–the gentle breeze

–the beautiful sunset

–the sounds of nature

Sometimes we get to the place where all we think about are the difficulties, rather than the delights. We focus on the pain, rather than the pleasure. Then life becomes a burden rather than a blessing.

So how do we keep going? We do so by—

–keeping our eye upon the prize. We will be home at last and all will be well.

–focusing on our Guide, knowing that He never leads us astray.

–remembering the exceeding great and precious promises of our Heavenly Father, who cannot lie.

–believing that heaven will be worth it all! –  — David Stone 8/2/2007

CASTING YOUR CARES            “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.“ 1 Peter 5:7
The Lord knows all His people—all their needs, and all their trials.

He thinks upon them—to bless, deliver and supply them.

He keeps His eye upon them—in all places, at all times, and under all circumstances.

He has them in His hand—and will not loosen His hold.

He looks upon them always as His own treasured possession . . .
the objects of His eternal love,
the purchase of His Son’s blood,
the temples of His Holy Spirit.

They are precious in His sight!

He knows they are weak and fearful—and that they have many enemies. He teaches them to cast themselves and all their cares into His hands! He has given them His promise that He will care for them.

It is a Father’s care which He exercises. It is a wise, holy, tender, and constant care. Therefore all will be well with you—only trust Him.

Believe that He cares for you this day. Carry all your concerns to Him in the arms of faith! Leave all with Him, persuaded that He will manage all by His infinite wisdom, and bring all to a good outcome by His omnipotent power.

Do not worry about anything. Cast all your cares upon Him, as fast as they come in.- James Smith

“

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22. Do you really believe that? If so, you have nothing to worry about. If not, you have nothing to whine about, for you are refusing to believe the One who cannot lie. God’s promises are “exceeding great and precious” (2 Pet. 1:4). They produce perfect peace for those who believe. So, you can either carry your cares, or cast them upon the Lord. – HDS

A WORD TO THE WEARY

“Even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you”– Isaiah 46:4

We’ve all heard it–“Old age ain’t for sissies”. And if you are there you know it’s true. While there might be a few rare birds who are an exception to the rule, most old people find life to be more and more difficult. That’s what makes our text so precious. While God doesn’t exempt us from suffering He enables us to endure it. Having this promise encourages us to press on rather than to give up.

As someone said, “Even to your old age I am He.” Even when you look in the mirror and see yourself changing—more wrinkles, less hair, fewer teeth—even then, I am still He. I am still the unchanging, unchangeable God.

It was I, God says, Who carried you out of the womb in your infancy; and it is I, He reminds us, that will still be here for you when you grow old. Though your strength and energy may diminish, I am still able to bear you. Though your hair may become gray, I remain the same.

“I will carry, and will deliver you.” Rather than calling the end of our road death, God calls it deliverance. Why? Because when God is carrying you, death is only the doorway to an everlasting life.

Here is the summary of God’s promise: just as I made you to begin with, I am able and willing to carry you and bear your burdens, until I finally deliver you into a carefree, burden-free, never-ending life. Because I am unchanging, I will always have the strength to carry you, and because I am unchanging I will always fulfill all my promises.

Have you committed yourself to the everlasting, unchanging arms of your Creator and Lord? His arms are the only ones strong enough to last through this life, and long enough to deliver you to the next.

JUSTIFIED

“It is God that justifieth.” Romans 8:33

TO be justified is to be acquitted, and pronounced righteous. Every believer in Jesus, however ungodly he may have been, or however vile and unworthy he may feel, is justified by Jehovah. The perfect work of Jesus is imputed to him, free grace is glorified in him, and he is passed from death unto life. To him there is no condemnation; no one can lay any thing to his charge; he is accepted in the Beloved; Christ lived and died for him, and now he liveth and shall be glorified through and with Jesus. All his trespasses are freely forgiven and eternally forgotten. God has cast all our sins behind His back, and now He pronounces us just. Let us approach God, believing that He has justified us; and let us look forward and rejoice that the Judge of all the earth will declare us righteous. Who shall lay anything to our charge? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. My soul, look to Jesus, to His perfect work and prevalent intercession, and there see thy salvation and find peace. (James Smith, 1840)

Turn then, my soul, unto Thy rest;

The merits of Thy great High Priest,

Speak peace and liberty:

Trust in His efficacious blood,

Nor fear thy banishment from God,

Since Jesus died for thee.

HELPED BY HURT

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”– James 1:2-3

There was a quote in yesterday’s devotion that probably raised some questions. William McDonald said God “will not allow anything to hurt me”.  I suspect that some dear soul is wondering “Why then am I hurting?” As they read these words their bodies are racked with pain and they wonder why God allows it. They wonder how that quote can be true. They don’t understand why some of the best people seem to have the worst problems.

What they fail to realize is that we can hurt without being hurt. Actually hurting can actually help us. Sometimes it is only through hurting that we are helped to be made holy and happy. It’s true. Pain can be profitable. Something can hurt you without harming you. For example, exercise can hurt you but actually help you rather than harming you. A root canal or a gallbladder surgery hurts but it sure helps!

God never intended that our life should be easy and pain free. Living and serving God is hard – it puts demands on us. God does indeed allow us to hurt but He always has our best interest at heart. And He has proven Himself faithful and true. You can trust God’s promise, He cannot lie. “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”– James 1:4. 2 Cor. 12:9 sums it up well “ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
