MORNING MANNA            10-13-25

October 13, 2025 By Pastor David Stone

“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” 2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭.

After preaching from this verse yesterday, on our 56th church anniversary, I thought it would be good to remind you of this great old hymn.

 GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

1“

Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

2

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

3

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

MORNING MANNA               10-11-25
PERFECT PEACE PROMISED
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee”.–Isaiah 26:3

We all long for trouble free lives, but the dream never comes true. Life sometimes feels more like a nightmare. Trusting God doesn’t exempt us from pain and problems, but it does equip us to deal with them. We live in frail bodies of flesh and bone so we are going to suffer. We live in a fallen world, so we will meet with opposition and injustice. We face a strong and cunning adversary, so we will have adversities. That’s life on planet earth.

So– trust in God won’t exempt us from troubles and trials
  — believing God won’t remove all the burdens
  — confidence in God won’t prevent conflicts
  — hope in God won’t keep us from getting hurt
  — relying upon God won’t always bring relief

But– trust in God will lead to triumph
    — believing God will bring blessings
    — confidence in God will give courage and comfort
    — hope in God will provide help
    — reliance upon God will give us rest

If our “mind is stayed on” Him – that is the condition and those are the consequences — regardless of circumstances. So, rather than fretting about the hardships of life, we ought to focus on the Lord, our Helper throughout life. The choice is yours. You can complain about your problems and be miserable, or you can claim God’s precious promises and find perfect peace. – HDS

MORE THAN CONQUERORS

“–we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”-Romans 8:37

If we truly understood who we are in Christ it would change our views about everything. Sadly, some don’t. Fortunately a few do. Most certainly all should. It would make a big difference in how we look at the challenges in life.

During World War II General Creighton Abrams and his troops were surrounded by the enemy to the east, west, north, south. General Abrams said,”Gentlemen, for the first time in the history of this campaign, we are now in a position to attack the enemy in any direction.”

Wouldn’t it be great if we all had that attitude? Far too often we bemoan the fact that many things are against us without ever considering that God is “for us”( Romans 8:31). It’s true, we should not ignore reality–we do have enemies, but we need to see the big picture. As Christians we have every right, and even a responsibility, to maintain a positive attitude. Fret not about all that is against you and focus on the One who is for you. He is all powerful and He cares about you. He can defeat every foe, meet every need, and solve any problem–trust Him. As John said, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”(1 John 4:4).

I sent this message in 2009 but as I read it again I realized that I need the message myself, and I suspect some folks reading it now are in need of it also. In light of the person and work of Christ we should never forget who we are and what we have in Christ. That gives us a reason to rejoice regardless of our circumstances. -HDS

CHRISTIAN JOY
“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭
Just so, “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing,” says Paul, speaking of his own experience.

The believer’s joy does not exclude sorrow, but . . .
  attends it,
  sustains under it,
  and raises above it.

Joy in the Lord should be constant–for He is the same.
There is as much ground for joy in Him in the winter of adversity–as in the summer of prosperity.
He is as good when he chides us–as when He comforts us.
He is as gracious when He lays us low–as when He raises us up.
He is as kind when He takes away–as when He gives.

If our joy springs chiefly from creature good and agreeable circumstances–then it must be fluctuating at the best, and at times it will entirely dry up. But if our chief joy is in God, then the spring of it never fails!

“When all created streams are dried,
 His fullness is the same!”

Observe, my soul, that joy in the Lord is not only encouraged–but commanded.
After once giving the admonition, the apostle says, “Again I say, Rejoice.”

The Lord would have His children . . .
  happy in His love,
restful under the shelter of His wings,
and peaceful in the midst of storms.

Seek then to know more of Him, live upon His fullness, dwell on His unchanging grace–and so will you be joyful in Him even in the midst of tribulation!- Author unknown, 1872

WHEN IT’S WORTH THE WAIT

“–wait upon the Lord–” Isaiah 40:31

We’ve all heard the prayer: “Lord, make me more patient—and do it now!” Of all the spiritual virtues, patience is one that tends to be troublingly elusive. Let’s face it; if patience is a virtue, most of us are not very virtuous. It’s flat out hard to wait.

Think of how you feel when you’re late for a critical engagement and caught in a traffic jam. I find it tough when I’m in a hurry and rush to the “10 items or less” line at the grocery store, and then have to wait while the guy in front of me pulls 16 items out of the basket and casually chats with the clerk. How did I know it was 16 items? I counted them, piece by piece!

When life or people don’t measure up to our expectations, being patient can be quite a challenge. But it’s clear that God wants us to develop this character trait. After all, patience is more than a virtue—it’s a fruit of the Spirit. It reflects His very presence in our lives, for He is a patient God. If He wasn’t , we all would have been annihilated long ago.

So what’s our problem?

There’s a good probability that our struggle with patience has been unsuccessful because we’ve been trying to focus on our own agendas and timelines and not trusting that, for reasons best known to Him, God may have a whole different schedule for us. Our propensity to live with a short fuse is all about forgetting that God puts us in His waiting room on purpose, because He is often doing something behind the scenes while we wait.

It might be as simple as teaching us to be more concerned with the struggles and feelings of others rather than being totally taken with our own interest and plans. There is plenty of evidence as well that God interrupts the normal flow of our lives to open unusual opportunities to be used of Him in unexpected ways. Or, it just may be that God wants to give us the opportunity to show what His patience is like by demonstrating it to others.

One thing we can be sure of—God’s time is always the right time. His management of our situations—whether in traffic or in the “ten items or less” line—is always the best management. Patience is not learning to wait for others; it’s learning to wait on God and to cooperate with His work in our lives. Next time impatience begins to stress you out, stop and ask God what He is saying to you; ask Him to show you why your expectations and schedule have been hijacked. Then take a deep breath and trust. Trust that He is at work in you and in the situation.

So, the next time you have to wait, “wait for the Lord”! (Copied)
