THANK YOU              10-25-25

October 25, 2025 By Pastor David Stone

THANK YOU              10-25-25
I’ll say it again, “I don’t have the words to express____”. Over and over I have used those words during this month to express my feelings toward others. In addition to October being Pastor Appreciation Month, we celebrated the 56th anniversary of the church (12th), my 59th anniversary of being in the ministry (22nd), and my 84th birthday ( 24th).

So, I want to say it again, “I don’t have the words to express “ how much I appreciate the displays of love that has been expressed to me. Saying “Thank you” just doesn’t seem like enough to tell folks how much I appreciate their expressions of love.

In addition to what the church and my family did, I received numerous messages from folks, many that I have known for years, expressing their love. At my age, with the limitations it brings, and living without Beverly, your love is like sunshine after the storm – bringing great joy to my heart.

So I’ll say it once again, “I don’t have the words to express “ how much I love you and appreciate the kindness you’ve shown to me. I pray that God will richly bless each of you. Thank you for loving a sinner like me.

Yours in Christ, Bro.Stone

MORNING MANNA              10-24-25

I’ll Wait Till I Get Home

Pastor William E. Sangster told of an experience in his youth when he went on a vacation with some friends. Within a short time he had spent all the funds given him for the trip, so he wrote home for more. His father, thinking he should teach his son the value of money, did not respond to the request. Sangster’s companions wondered why he had been turned down and suggested several reasons. Young William said to them, ‘I’ll wait till I get home, and he’ll tell me himself.”

That’s the kind of attitude we as Christians should have toward our Heavenly Father. Life itself holds many unanswered questions. But we know that God is sovereign and that He works all things after the counsel of His own will (Eph. 1:11). Our Lord has said, ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa. 55:9). We are limited in our comprehension of all that He is doing in our lives 1 Cor. 13:12). An explanation for many of the problems that confront us, the trials through which we pass, and the wounds that bring such hurt will have to wait until we get to heaven.

Although God does not need to explain the reasons for His dealings with us, someday He will unveil His matchless wisdom to us. We need patience to wait for the final answer. In that day when we awake in glory, we shall be fully satisfied. Though now we may not trace God’s hand, we can always trust His heart. (P.R.V. Our Daily Bread)

MORNING MANNA             10-23-25

NO EXPLANATION NEEDED

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭33‬ ‭

The book of Job deals with the suffering of a righteous man. One of the things we need to remember is that Job did not know the reason for his afflictions. The meaning of his misery was a mystery.

J. Sidlow Baxter wrote, “The fact is, Job was not meant to know the explanation of his trial; and on this simple fact everything hangs. If Job had known, there would have been no place for faith; and the man could never have come forth as gold purified in the fire. We are meant to understand that there are some things which God cannot reveal to us at present, inasmuch as the very revealing of them would thwart His purposes for our good”.

Along those same lines, Alfred Edersheim said, “We cannot understand the meaning of many trials; God does not explain them. To explain a trial would be to destroy its object, which is that of calling forth simple faith and implicit obedience. If we knew why the Lord sent us this or that trial, it would thereby cease to be a trial either of faith or of patience.”

So the next time your world seems to be falling apart, which might be right now, and you don’t know why, instead of wallowing in self-pity and complaining, remember this—Trusting God is better than trying to understand Him! And one more thing – please pray for me that I will do the same. – HDS

MORNING MANNA            10-22-25
ONE DAY AT A TIME

As I reflect upon the needs of people that I care about and pray for them, I often think about this wonderful poem that has helped me so many times. I hope it will be a blessing to you and that you will refer to it often. Also, please notice the scriptures upon which the poem was based.

One Day at a Time

One day at a time, with its failures and fears,
With its hurts and mistakes, with its weakness and tears,
With its portion of pain and its burden of care;
One day at a time we must meet and must bear.

One day at a time to be patient and strong,
To be calm under trial and sweet under wrong;
Then its toiling shall pass and its sorrow shall cease;
It shall darken and die, and the night shall bring peace.

One day at a time – but the day is so long,
And the heart is not brave, and the soul is not strong,
O Thou pitiful Christ, be Thou near all the way;
Give courage and patience and strength for the day.

Swift cometh His answer, so clear and so sweet;
“Yea, I will be with thee, thy troubles to meet;
I will not forget thee, nor fail thee, nor grieve;
I will not forsake thee; I never will leave.”

Not yesterday’s load we are called on to bear,
Nor the morrow’s uncertain and shadowy care;
Why should we look forward or back with dismay?
Our needs, as our mercies, are but for the day.

One day at a time, and the day is His day;
He hath numbered its hours, though they haste or delay.
His grace is sufficient; we walk not alone;
As the day, so the strength that He giveth His own.

By Annie Johnson Flint

Deut. 33:25 ..”and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

2Cor. 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

THANK YOU

October 22, 2025 By Pastor David Stone

Today, October 22, is my 59th anniversary of preaching God’s Word. I’ll never forget the night when it started. I won’t go into detail here, but I am still amazed that God would use someone like me. I just want to thank God for the wonderful privilege of being able to preach all these years.

I am praying that God will help me to finish well. I’ll be 84 on the 24th and God alone knows how much longer I’ve got. I want to thank all those who have prayed and encouraged me. You have made a difference. No pastor could ever hope for a more loving church than the dear folks at Lakeway Baptist Church. I love you and appreciate your support and kindness.

Your servant in Christ, Bro. Stone
