MORNING MANNA 2-20-26
DAILY DUTY
One of my greatest inspirations as a young Christian was reading “To The Golden Shore” which is the story of Adoniram Judson, the famous missionary to Burma. If ever a man made the most out of life he did.
Speaking of life, Judson wrote, “A life once spent is irrevocable. It will remain to be contemplated through eternity and the same may be said of each day. When it is once past, it is gone forever. All the marks which we put upon it, it will exhibit forever. Each day will not only be a witness of our conduct, but will affect our everlasting destiny (Read Rev. 22:12). How shall we then wish to see each day marked with usefulness! It is too late to mend the days that are past ( Consider what Paul did with his regret – Phil. 3:13-14). The future is in our power (when we are in His hand). Let us, then, each morning, (enabled by God’s Spirit) resolve to send the day into eternity in such a garb as we shall wish it to wear forever. And at night let us reflect that one more day is irrevocably gone, indelibly (forever) marked.”
Last week I preached from Psa.90:12 which says, “So teach us to number our days, That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” As Judson did, we need to embrace an eternal perspective. Notice, we are told to number our days, not our years. Everyday should be lived with eternity in view. Rather than setting our affection on the things of earth we should set them on things above, where they never perish. That’s a life well lived! – HDS
A day is full of many hours just waiting for your using;
and there are many ways to spend them,
so be careful in your choosing
