MORNING MANNA              1-27-26

MORNING MANNA                 1-27-26
WHO ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE?

Opinions about how to get to heaven are “Thicker than fleas on a cat’s back”, as we used to say. It seems that everyone has a theory—no need to make a list, you’ve heard most of them.

Isn’t it strange that there is so much confusion about the most important thing in the world? And it’s so needless! The Bible couldn’t be any clearer. Jesus said, ”I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). He did not say, “I am a way” or “I am one of the ways”, He said, ”I am the way”. That’s emphatic. There is no other way.

God the Father sent His Son, Jesus, to be our substitute. Jesus took upon Himself the sins of the world and suffered the punishment we deserve. As the old song says, “Jesus paid it all”—indeed He did! According to Hebrews 2:9, He tasted death “for every man”. Sin’s debt has been paid and all you have to do is receive Christ as your Lord and Savior (John 1:12). We receive Christ by simply believing (John 3:16, 36), trusting in His shed blood to save us from our sin (Hebrews 9:22).

Dear friend, religion, good works, etc. won’t get you to heaven. Jesus is the only way. Because of Him we can have eternal life, a home in heaven where we will spend eternity in the presence of Almighty God. So, before you accept one of the opinions being tossed about, you had better find out what the Bible says, and remember—“God—cannot lie” (Titus 1:2). So who are you going to believe? It’s your choice. —David Stone  4/17/2008

DON’T QUIT

“But he himself (Elijah) went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life ….. then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose …. And, behold, the LORD passed by ….. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? And the LORD said unto him, Go ….”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭4‬-‭5‬, ‭7‬-‭8‬, ‭10‬-‭11‬, ‭13‬, ‭15‬

There’s a lot going on here, but for a short devotion, let’s get right to it.

Elijah is a great and powerful prophet of God fighting the good fight, standing for the truth, and burdened for God’s people who have not completely turned from idols. There are wicked agendas coming against him and his life is threatened.

A preacher once said, “Even when we’re right and standing for the truth and the opposition is wrong, you still experience the pressure from those who are against you.”

That thought is so clearly confirmed here in God’s word. Elijah is ready to give up though he is standing for the Word as many weigh in against him.

However, God’s people who stand for the truth are strengthened by the Lord. Elijah was ministered to by an angel once and again, then the Lord gave him something else to do to stand for the truth.

Here’s the application for us : we can become discouraged even when standing for the truth. When we do, DON’T QUIT. Know that the Lord will come along, and one way or another, give you rest, restoration, and raise you up for a strong return to keep standing for the truth!

THE GREAT WORKS OF THE LORD

“And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.”
Judges‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬

Read a story about a family moving to a new house. Their former house had a huge sunroom on the back of the house. The man’s daughter loved to play in it. They loved the natural light in the room. The new house didn’t have one. The family wanted a sunroom. The sunroom was not a necessity. The man started praying about it without telling anyone. He asked the Lord if it would be okay to invest in one. A request for this addition whose home was part of his prayers for months.

The family went on vacation several states away from their home and found a church to worship the Lord in while they were away. After service they engaged in conversation with a family of the church. The two men were talking and ended up sharing what their occupations were. Guess what the new acquaintance did for a living. You guessed it! He built sunrooms! There’s more though. It was placed on the man’s heart to travel 900 miles and build the family a sunroom for half the price he usually charged.

The man shared with his family his daily prayer request to the Lord about this added feature to their home. Often the family would enjoy their new room and the father would ask his children, “Who gave us this room?”, and his children would say, “God did”.

Never forget THE GREAT WORKS OF THE LORD!

LOVE OVER FEAR!

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men…

“For the love of Christ constraineth us… 2 Corinthians 5:11,14

The teenagers of the Church and I spent a few years on visitation in a neighborhood close by on Wednesday evenings before Bible study. We met a lot of people and had a lot of pleasant experiences on front porches.

One man named Don greeted us, but quickly became irritated when we shared the good news of Jesus with him. The witnessing attempt ended by Don chasing us out of his yard yelling out threats.

How did we respond? We proceeded to the next house, knocked on the door, and shared Jesus. How were we able to do it now that the temptation of fear had come into the picture? The answer is love. God placed a love in our hearts for unsaved people. That love was more influencing than the fear of being rejected.
Perfect love casteth out fear!

May love overcome fear as you have opportunity to share the love of Jesus with someone today!
