MORNING MANNA              11-6-25

MORNING MANNA                11-6-25
THE GLORY OF THE CROSS
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ-“– Galatians 6:14

Paul had what we all need–a burning desire to proclaim the glories of the cross to a lost and dying world. In spite of all the difficulties he faced, he never allowed anything to dim his vision of the cross. Neither should we. Keeping our focus on the cross will feed our faith, fuel our faithfulness, and fix our faults.

Turn your eyes away from the vanities of the world and set your sights on the cross. See the two arms stretched out in both directions, east and west, and think about  the Lord’s willingness to embrace all the peoples of the earth. See the foot of the cross and imagine it descending down to the gutters, making a way for the lowest of men. Behold the cross ascending upward, beyond the sun, moon, and stars, until it reaches the very throne of God and sheds its light throughtout the heavenly city. Then, there you will hear the heavenly choir singing in perfect unison honor, glory, and power to the One who is Worthy, the One who gave Himself as a sacrifice on the old rugged cross.

If the cross is our theme for eternity it certainly should be at the center of our thoughts ever wakening moment here below. God help us to not be distracted by the things of this world. All else pales in comparison to Christ and the cross! Set your affection on things above rather than things below .Let us glory only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have nothing else of which to boast. HDS

Groaning with Grief

“For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travileth in pain together until now.”-Romans 8:22

We are constantly bombarded with bad news, from the media and contact with others. We live in perilous times. Some folks would have us to believe that the planet is on the verge of total destruction. That kind of talk gets depressing. So, what are the facts?

The Bible tells us “the whole creation groaneth and travileth in pain”. This suffering includes all of creation. Even God’s children are not exempt. We all suffer. Life is tough for everyone. Right now some of you feel you are drowning in a sea of sorrow. You suffer to such an extent that you wonder if you can make it through another day. So, what is the cause of all this? In a word it is “sin”. We live in a fallen world that has been affected by sin, consquently all of creation suffers and we groan. Oh how we groan!

The good news is that it won’t always be this way. Although it is bitter now, there is a better day coming. Our grief will give way to glory, burdens to blessings, drugery to delight, and pain to pleasure. Paul tells us our afflictions are “but for a moment” and “worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” Hang on Christian—the best is yet to come!

But can the future blessings out weigh the present burdens? Indeed they can when you are talking about what God provides. When we stand before the Lord we will have no complaints. Our reward will be more than ample to satisfy us forever. It is this hope that helps us get through the tough times. For every need God has an answer.- HDS, 6-7-10

WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY WORTH TO US?

We must reflect on this question. It would behoove us to consider the reality of secret cave worship services Christians have gathered for so they could sing, pray, and preach the Word of God.

There was always a possibility of being captured and even killed for doing so, yet they continued to meet steadfastly because of the value of Christianity to them. Many have had their lives taken because of the truth they stood for. These are truths we are able to openly meet for and share today.

Truths such as :

– THE BIBLE IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY. We teach from it and the operating of the church is molded from it.
– THE CHURCH IS LOCAL AND INDEPENDENT of any power, authority, or persuasion of any outside organizations, people, or groups.
– THE CHRISTIAN HAS INDIVIDUAL ACCESS TO GOD through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
– THE BIBLE SPEAKS OF TWO OFFICES IN THE CHURCH, pastors and deacons.
– THE PRACTICE OF TWO ORDINANCES, baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
– LIVING A SET APART LIFE OF HOLINESS as a result of the great sacrifice Jesus Christ willingly made for us.

These are some truths which date back to the early church. Christians stood for these truths in the face of persecution, and many have died for them.

What a privilege it is to be a member of a church which still stands for these truths today. Our heritage should humble us. We must ponder how we are passing it along to future generations.

HE NEVER STOPS LOVING US

“And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22‬:‭61-62

Peter meant it when he said to the Lord he would go into prison and to death for Him. He fully intended to follow through on what he pledged. He failed to live up to it in the moment though.

You and I have often failed as well. We didn’t plan to fail, but we did. This brings conviction, disappointment, and tears. However, what we learn through these experiences is :
Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves,
He is sovereign,
and HE NEVER STOPS LOVING US.

Do you believe there is nothing you can do to cause Him to love you more or less? I hope so because it’s a fictional thought to think we have to earn His love or that we can lose His love. Satan wants us to think God has cut off His love to us when we fail, but that will never be true. The Bible says “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

This is an uplifting truth and it’s life changing. We begin to live differently as a result of discovering God will never love us more or less than he does this very moment.

HE NEVER STOPS LOVING US

CHOOSE TO TRUST HIM

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6

Becoming a Christian is about making a decision to trust in Jesus Christ to save us. That’s the greatest decision ever to be made.

However, after being saved, there are constant great decisions to make trusting God in the daily living of our lives. There are problems, pains, personal issues, and interactions with other people which are designed to lead us to decide to trust in the Lord and have Him grow us in faith.

How can we get a picture of this? What are we trusting? The verse says to believe that God is who He says He is. Do we believe He will do what He says He will do? Do we believe He will keep His promises? Are we making the decision to trust the Lord to meet our needs, the needs of our family, and the needs of our church?

Each daily decision to do so results in a growth process taking place in our lives. When we make the decision to trust God in every presented circumstance, the development of stronger faith is taking place in our lives. We find out that God never fails when we trust Him!

We talk about this and others may see us trusting Him, and that’s good, but there are so many decisions we need to make to trust Him every day that we need to see this as a private matter. When we are going through a trial, our hearts need to turn to the Lord. The setting is just God and ourselves. We need to trust that He knows our tears and knows what we need. In those private times our faith will be strengthened.

It may be that you will read this all alone this morning. When you do, maybe something you’re going through will come to your mind. How you respond to this trial is very important. There is a great decision for you to make today. I pray your decision is to choose to trust Him! You won’t regret it!
