MORNING MANNA             10-31-25

October 31, 2025 By Pastor David Stone

A SAFE PLACE FOR YOU

Psalm 57:1 “Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: For my soul trusted in thee: Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, Until these calamities be overpast.”

When we find an analogy to describe the character or attributes of our Lord such as “thy wings” which we find in this verse, it’s well worth a study to fully understand why the Lord chooses the things he does to describe himself.

A baby bird enjoys being nestled in the wings of a mother though not understanding the depth of protection a mother’s wings will provide.
The feathers are firm and collectively provide a great barrier. They are also water repellent. Considering the detail design of each feather they also come together to form a shield to block the winds.

WE ARE WHAT WE THINK

Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..”

Not too many years ago there was a commercial on TV that was quite comical. Someone was dressed in a French fry costume playing soccer. As they quickly grew tired running down the field, the narrator says “You are what you eat!”
Maybe we need a commercial conveying “we are what we think.” The Bible teaches us how important our thoughts are. Our thoughts become words, actions, and habits. This reality should awaken our discernment about what we allow to enter our minds. This urges us to become more selective with what we take in from social media, video games, television, movies, music, and what is being said around us.

Unhealthy thought patterns are the source of many marital problems, contentions in the family, and tension among friends.

It’s been said that the average person has 6.5 thoughts per minute, which comes out to 6,200 thoughts per day, and 2.2 million thoughts per year.
We can surely say our thoughts are continually molding us into the person we are becoming.

We need spiritual victory in our minds. Philippians 2:5 says Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. We must have a continuous intake of God’s word in order for this to happen. It will cause us to focus on Christ. He never had a wrong thought, held onto a personal offense, nor entertained pride, or let any of his thinking spiral out of control.

Let’s work today and every day on the development of the mind of Christ in us!

“We are what we think” can become a positive truth, not a negative one!

MORNING MANNA                  10-29-25
A WORK TO DO
“For to me to live is Christ” Philippians 1:21

Some poor souls grow so weary with the struggle of life that they yearn for it to end, and some take the next step. They are so troubled by their troubles that they decide life is not worth the living. How sad, and Oh how foolish!

If you are alive it is for a God-given purpose. Regardless of how bitter the battle, or how rough the road, or how difficult the duty, you are alive because God has a work for you to do. It is not ours to decide if it is worth the work, or if the reward will be reason enough to continue–our duty, and eventually our delight, is to do our duty, regardless of the degree of difficulty. Don’t worry about whether or not you will be successful or appreciated, just do your job –leave the results with God. He commands us to be faithful, not fruitful or famous. Winning His smile of approval is all that matters. As Jesus came to do the Father’s will and was busy about His business so it should be with us.

Here’s something I found in my notes that might encourage you. I don’t know who wrote these words, but they serve to remind me of something I should never forget, perhaps they will do the same for you:

“Let us examine our capacities and gifts, and then put them to the best use we may. As our own view of life is of necessity partial, I do not find that we can do better than to put them absolutely in God’s hand, and look to Him for the direction of our life-energy. God can do great things with our lives, if we but give them to Him in sincerity. He can make them useful, uplifting, heroic. God never wastes anything. God never forgets anything. God never loses anything. As long as we live we have a work to do. We shall never be too old for it, nor too feeble. Illness, weakness, fatigue, sorrow,–none of these things can excuse us from this work of ours. That we are alive today is proof positive that God has something for us to do today.”

God help us to be a shining example of what a Christian ought to be until the day we die. That’s a life well lived! – HDS

MORNING MANNA                  10-28-25

INSPIRED BY THE INVISIBLE
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Cor. 4:18

The first twenty years of my ministry I spent a lot of time away from home preaching revival meetings, etc. In doing so I often found myself in unpleasant situations. The thing that kept me going was knowing my stay there would be short and I would return home after the meeting was over. At home I could feel the embrace of my wife, hear the laughter of my children, eat home-cooked meals, and sleep in my own bed. Indeed–“there’s no place like home”. That inspired me and kept me going through the days while I was away.

Knowing something good lies ahead helps us get through the difficulties we encounter enroute. That’s why I keep saying,”For the Christian, the best is always yet to come”. I believe that. And knowing it is so helps me. The anticipation of something delightful can be a great encouragement when you are facing unpleasant situations. If you only focus on your present problems it can drive you to despair. But when we know that we only have to endure for a brief time it makes matters a lot easier. For that reason we ought to think much and more about eternity and heaven. The hope of heaven can help you like nothing else that I know of. The reality of it brings great relief to God’s weary children.

Regardless of what you’re going through, if you know the Lord, things will get better, much better – they will in fact be perfect! It’s just a matter of time. If Christ is your Savior then God is your Father, heaven is your home, and the Holy Spirit is your Helper until you get there. Don’t let the hardness of the way cloud your vision and rob you of your joy. Soon your journey will end and you will be home at last. There everything will be absolute perfection. So, keep your eyes on the prize! – HDS (7-13-10)

THE FOLLY OF DENYING GOD

Psalm 14:1, “The fool hath said in his heart: There is no God!”

In a world bursting with beauty, order, and complexity–the denial of God is not merely an intellectual error–it is a moral rebellion. The above verse does not say that the atheist is unintelligent, but that he is a fool. Why? Because he suppresses the most obvious truth in the universe: that there is a Creator who made all things, and to whom all must give account (Romans 1:18-20).

Lee Strobel, once an atheist himself, rightly observed the absurdity of unbelief: “To continue in atheism, I would need to believe that nothing produces everything, non-life produces life, randomness produces fine-tuning, chaos produces information, unconsciousness produces consciousness, and non-reason produces reason.” This is not science–it is blind faith in the impossible. It is the worship of chance, the deification of disorder, and the exaltation of man’s autonomy over God’s authority.

Atheism is not neutral ground. It is a willful rejection of the truth that God has made plain. The heavens declare His glory (Psalm 19:1), and every cell in our bodies testifies to His intricate design. The  conscience within us bears witness to His moral law (Romans 2:15). Yet the atheist suppresses this truth, not because of lack of evidence, but because of love for sin. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22).

But praise be to God–He is rich in mercy. Even the most hardened atheist is not beyond the reach of God’s grace. Strobel himself was transformed by the gospel which he once mocked. The cross of Christ is the power of God to save those who believe (1 Corinthians 1:18). The same gospel that exposes the folly of  unbelief, also offers the wisdom of salvation.

Let us not be ashamed of the truth. Let us boldly proclaim that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7), and that all who deny Him are building their lives on sand. May we pray for those still in darkness, and may we shine the light of God’s Word with clarity, conviction, and compassion.

Lord, thank You for opening our eyes to Your truth. Keep us from the folly of prideful unbelief. Give us boldness to proclaim Your gospel, and  compassion for those who are willfully blind to Your glory. May Your Spirit convict hearts and draw many from foolishness to faith. In the name of Jesus, Amen.- author unknown
